She became interested in birth very young and again when she was pregnant with her oldest child. She took the Bradley Natural Childbirth classes and they worked so well, she decided to teach them. She has been teaching for almost 2 years.

Katie's interest in the world of cloth grew out of watching friends' babies diapered in cloth in 1997. Her obsession with "all things cloth" and her sewing expertise are perfectly matched in her company, KDthreads, a Pittsburgh company that manufactures and retails creatively engineered reusable cloth products. It is Katie's desire to empower women to reuse a beautiful and functional product that is preferable to use than its disposable counterpart.

	Deanna has worked with the midwives since 1998 as a Registered Nurse with eight years of experience in Labor and Delivery. Deanna is a certified childbirth educator through ALACE. Deanna currently teaches The Midwife Center’s Core Classes and works as an RN at The Center as well. She has had two beautiful homebirths herself and believes that every woman has the power within herself to birth—the secret is to find that power.
